Be prepared to be awed, shocked, and totally amazed. After working countless hours to craft, revise, and refine our opinion pieces, we finally have a final project; and I have to say, it is probably the coolest project we have done to date. Your student was asked to write about their favorite country/continent along with 2 specific reasons for their thinking. Not only did students have to clearly communicate their opinion as a writer, but they had to do research as well! Wow, can you believe they are only in Kindergarten? Anyways, below you can see the finished product. We used a green screen to import your student's image in the country that they wrote about. Check it out!

Sight Words
Parents, now is the time to work on those sight words. Please review sight words, old and new, nightly. Soon your student will be moving on to first grade where these words will be imperative to their success as a reader. And, here's the thing, it doesn't have to be boring! Take a look at the activities below for some fun ideas for sight word practice at home!

Check out our class book!
Parents/Guardians,
Last week students studied characteristics of
nonfiction/informational books. Not only did we look at the defining features
of this type of text, but we also created an informational book of our own.
This book is based on information we gathered from the internet and from books.
Each student used the app, ScribblePress, to create their own informational
book on doctors, then each student chose their best page to be featured in our
classroom book. Click on the link to see the finished product. You can also access
the link on our classroom blog!
Have a great day!

Welcome Back
We have had such a wonderful return from the Winter Break. I am so impressed with the reading, writing, and problem-solving that is happening in this room every day. Wow! This week students were introduced to 2 new apps, Doodle Buddy and Scribble Press. Take a look at the kiddos working to create subtraction picture problems with Doodle Buddy, and writing informational books with Scribble Press.
